Responsibilities of Temporary Nursery Practitioners


Some nurseries may differ but the main responsibilities will include

-Provide high quality care and activities for the children and to recognise both individual and group requirements in a secure, safe and stimulating environment. 
-Ensure they are familiar with the key policies and procedures, especially safeguarding children, equal opportunities, behaviour management and health and safety.
-Ensure the room is kept clean and tidy and organised.
-Ensure toys and equipment are organised, stored correctly, cleaned and sterilised regularly.
-Clean obvious marks and spillages (doors, floors, walls, etc) as soon as possible
-Ensure rooms, corridors are left tidy and cleared away at the end of the day, including clothing, cups, plates, etc. 
-Tidying in the children’s toilet (no adult toilet cleaning): such as wiping around the sink, tidying away dirty clothes etc.when no children are present!
-Empty bins, including nappy bins.
-Tidying up toys in the outdoor area or garden and assisting with general tidying tasks, such as ensuring the garden is safe for children. This may include sweeping certain areas, collecting leaves, sticks, logs, fallen fruit, and other debris.
-Change nappies if needed in strict accordance with the setting’s policies and procedures.

The following duties are their responsibility: 

-General cleaning such as: cleaning and sanitising of adult toilets and sinks.
-Documentations and observations concerning to the children.
-Kitchen work if they are booked to work in the room with the children.
