Inspiring Nurseries - Events for Nursery Managers

What is Inspiring Nurseries?

Inspiring Nurseries is a series of informal events (OFSTED Masterclasses) offering nursery managers/owners relevant and developmental training provided by an early years specialist. Furthermore, the event offers a safe and inspirational place for nursery managers to connect with fellow practitioners in the borough to network, to share advice and good practice. Set in convenient places in the boroughs of Wandsworth, Merton, Lambeth, Kingston and Hammersmith, the events take place biannually on weekday evenings from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm - making it easy to fit into the busy nursery lives.

How did Inspiring Nurseries come about?

Kate and Marnie have been working with children for decades in their own field; Marnie is an expert in children’s physical development whilst Kate has been providing childcare for over two decades. Both Kate and Marnie set up their own business in 2014 with the aim of helping children to grow into happy and healthy individuals. Through networking, the two ladies formed a strong connection and together they constantly aim at helping parents and nurseries alike.

“ We understand how challenging the life of a nursery owner/manager is and we want to facilitate their everyday practises. With this in mind (we realised that providing a space for managers and owners to connect was vital to achieving a better practice and so) we set out Inspiring Nurseries to help nurseries managers/owners to learn about good practice and network with other local nurseries. We wanted to find a way to inspire and inform nurseries and offer training at a location and time convenient for those running the nurseries. Therefore each event takes place on a weekday evening, so managers/owners do not have to worry about taking a whole day out of work.”

Why did Kate and Marnie choose Alison as the Early Years Expert for their event in January 2020?

“ We wanted to offer quality training and event for networking. This meant we had to find someone who is an expert in the field of Early Years. Alison is an NSPCC trained Safeguarding and Child Protection trainer. She is also Schemaplay accredited trainer and University of Sussex and University of Brighton external mentor for students undertaking Early Years Teacher Status. Alison uses the Sustained Shared Thinking and Emotional Wellbeing (SSTEW) Scale Audit and is a Gold Assessor (this means I have been trained to audit by one of the authors). Alison covers all aspects of the EYFS, so we are extremely excited about working with her on the Inspiring Nurseries events.”
